If you could trade your Ranger for this - would you?

What it is, is what in Australia is called a Ford Falcon UTE (short for utility).

As far as I know they just don't sell them in the US market, but God knows I wish they did!

That has to be the most agressive looking truck styling I've ever seen from FORD - and it's a quarter ton!

LOOK HERE for more about them:

FALCON UTE

It looks absolutely menacing, doesn't it?

* Before anyone asks the obvious - yes it's for real. NO - it isn't a concept or a show truck, they have been in production and sold over there for a while now. You may be able to import an '07 model, for one thing.

I don't really care for it, trucks should look like trucks, not mustangs...

I guess it depends on what you want. If you want a cute, sport truck, its great. If you want a work truck or an off roader, its very impractical. Where is the Aussie diesel that was all the rage a years ago or so?

I think it's available with a small diesel. I haven't completely scoped it out yet.

Consider the increased mileage from the reduced profile though...

Even in the big-rig industry, that has had an impact.

Either way - what makes you think what you've got NOW is anymore impact resistant?

They'd both roll up in a ball if you hit anything - so I'd go with better mileage.

My Ranger gets 26 MPG, which is very good for a truck. Besides, the styling on that Falcon doesn't do anything for me- way too car-like!

You've got to be kidding me -

It has been years since the Ranchero went BY-BY....

Where is your hotrod soul?

ARE RANGER PEOPLE THAT POOR AND LAME????

Alright. I've found the Ranger and B-Series forum dangerous waters before.

You guys are on your own, from my perspective. I own one - but I will NOT be calling here again.

Good by and good luck to you

actually i hit a guy that stopped on the highway i was doing about 45 when i hit him, i drove away bent 1 tow hook and my bumper, didnt touch my hood or even my trans rad in front of my reg one, i was also hit on the rear from a guy when i was crossing an intersection, his radiator was pushed into his engine, i was able to drive away with a bent axle shaft

that thing would have been totaled twice plus going through deep snow and mud no way, who cares if its fast, my 3.0 has good for me, and handles great under big loads

Just a comment regarding its work/off-road ability.
It is rated to tow 5k lbs, and haul 1.3tons...
It is available with a factory 4" lift kit, and rear diff lock and A/T's... its not a wheeling rig, but it will go 95% of the places a 4x4 Ranger will.

As for fuel mileage, a 4cyl Ranger might get mid 20's for fuel milage, but the base engine in the Falcon ute will get the same milage... and it has a 260hp/290lbft 4.0l I6 and will hit 60 in about 7s and is available with a 6 speed auto/stick.
I think I know which one I will choose... and thats before you get into the 400hp turbo I6, 425hp 5.4 V8...
Even mine will get 21mpg (it has the 389hp 5.4...) if I am easy on it (rarely)

As for looks, thats a personal thing... but...
