Looks are good. MPG is bound to be better than the Ranger. Driveablility is probably great. But it doesn't look like it has a pair. And in the US that is what matters. Perception. I'll guess that it will go the way of the Ranchero if brought here. Great opening act. No follow up on sales.
i seen one here in the us about 2 years ago or so . it was purple had a I6 i think it had a turbo, but damn that thing was FAST. and it was right hand drive.

Just a comment regarding its work/off-road ability.
It is rated to tow 5k lbs, and haul 1.3tons...
It is available with a factory 4" lift kit, and rear diff lock and A/T's... its not a wheeling rig, but it will go 95% of the places a 4x4 Ranger will.
well itll only tow 5k with a 1,500 option and the higher payloads are on the chassis cabs plus the locking diff is only on 2 models, i didnt see the lift kit but even so a locking diff would only be effective with AT's and a lot of weight in the back im not saying it cant work, but for 25k usd u can get a whole lot more in a ranger or even a an f150, i mean auburn just came out with a limited slip/e locker for the dana 35 throw that on a new 4x4 ranger with the torsen diff on the back and your unstopable
I would not get rid a my Ranger, but that car would be fun to drive and own.
It has it's uses. I would like to own a high mileage gas sipper today - Just look at the rising fuel prices, so why not get a cool ride to boot!

The cost is one thing... but bear in mind a Ranger costs similar dollars here to the ute.
(i.e. a base 4cyl Ranger is similar to the base Falcon - the higher spec, 4x4 diesel dual cab Rangers are similar to the high spec performance model Falcons...)
The cost of vehicles here in general is prohibitive, I mean GM was able to ship the Pontiac GTO to the US and sell it for 1/2 the price we payed for the same model here...

ARE RANGER PEOPLE THAT POOR AND LAME????
Alright. I've found the Ranger and B-Series forum dangerous waters before.
You guys are on your own, from my perspective. I own one - but I will NOT be calling here again.
Good by and good luck to you
Oh please Grey, you're giving up that easily? For starters, it's not comperable to a Ranger, it's more like a truck version of the Taurus X (or whatever the freestyle became), if you like it, great, but how can you possibly expect to come into the RANGER forum and say "hey, what do you think of this euro looking car/truck thing" and expect people to abandon their current love affair with their truck? Secondly, you'll notice the Ranchero isn't made anymore, practical or not, there's probably a reason the Ranger survived but there's no Falcon UTE here. I'd love to see that DOHC I-6 in the states, and I don't even mind the styling, but I'm with Rockledge, it wouldn't replace my Ranger!

I'd gladly trade my Ranger for one. Its more powerful, faster, more capable and gets better economy, and best of all, its not a tired design that has remained essentially unchanged for 20 years. There's only one reason the Ranger has survived: it hasn't had any development costs of significance for 20 years and as a result its very cheap to make --- its also the reason why Ranger sales are less than stellar. There are many Ford vehicles world-wide which are superior to US vehicles, and many times it has to do with emissions or marketing (people demand better in some markets).

Do you think you would be satisfied with the UTE as your sole work/hauling/towing vehicle? I think that's really the essence of the question for most Ranger owners. It's like asking you whether you would you trade your 2006 Roush F150 or your 2004 F250 King Ranch for one....?
