Programmer/chip and air intake recommendations

Hello All! New to the boards. I have an 07 5.4 F150 S-Crew 4x4. I am looking to do some mods like a programmer/chip and air intake. What is the best stuff out there that works for these trucks? what programmer will give me the most bang for the buck? Which air intakes do you like best? There are so many options out there it is hard to determine what is the best or better than the rest. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I am also looking at doing a 2.5 leveling kit. Does the ride change much doing this? Are new shocks needed or will spacers work just fine? I don't want to compensate the ride quality.

Thanks again!

I installed a Truxxx 3" leveling kit on my 06, everything fitted perfectly, also had a 4 wheel alignment done. Using Hypertech Max Energy Programmer which makes a difference. K&N Air Charger would be the way to go, I tried cheaper ones but it would set an error code after 30 miles of driving, and no comparison with the HP gains.

I had the Superchips Flashpaq and didnt really like it. I just got an Edge Evolution yesterday and immediately installed it on the #2 setting. I can tell you it really woke up my truck. What a difference. This is an otherwise stock 5.4 Screw.

I have used Hypertech before with great gains, ran the programmer without any additions which I will do soon to see the difference since they all are web updateable. Will see how it goes.

IMHO,
stay away from "canned" tunes and K&N, a sock filters more dirt..

use "bama chips" or "dp-tuner" for a programmer, these companies do custom tunes so you can tell them how you want the trans to act, what modifications have been done, and what octane you want to use, it costs slightly more but your truck is really tuned!

S&B makes a good intake, the owner has spent alot of money testing the filters filtering ability not just flow. Airade makes a replacement intake tube, you would keep the stock filter housing but change the intake tube to one with no baffles and a larger I.D., plus its much cheaper than a complete intake kit.

ultrastealth- also do a search on this forum and you'll find several threads regarding cai, edge, other programmers, etc.. Everyone has their $0.02 on them, so just read through as much as you can.

I have the Max Energy which you can do, for the Programmer III I checked their website but it does not mention anything about it.

I like my Edge as I have a basically stock truck. If I wanted to safely get the max out of my truck, I would go with Troyer Automotive and get his XcalIII, AF1 and custom tunes. He is the tune guru for these trucks.

Thanks everybody for the info. I am really just trying to hear everyone's experience. There are so many options out there and I want to make sure I get something good if I am going to spend the money.

Does anyone know if the leveling kit will void your warranty?

Thanks!

Good to know, I just bought the Max Energy so it will have to do until the other priority mods get on it, JBA headers and burpy cam. Thanks
