I am a new member and just posted this in the pre-powerstroke forum.
Sounds like you have a similar prob to me. Any help would be greatfull.
94 7.3 turbo auto probs??
Yeasterday an I was driving to work and my trany started to make a wining sound and was slipping in drive. My OD light started to blink. I pulled over and everthing seemed fine untill I started to drive. It seemed to be fine in 1st and 2nd, but when it shifted into drive the wining and slipping started again.
I was about 100 miles into my commute with about 30 more to go, no cell service, so I limped into the work site in second gear.
To make it short I limped home in second gear and was able to drive in drive if I was going down hill. It was a long day!!
I have had a speed sensor failure in my other truck before which caused the trany to go into limp mode, but I think this problem is a little more than a speed sensor. The wining( which sounds like a cavitating hydraulic pump) and the slipping makes me think the trany is shot.
Does anyone have any ideas???
Thanks
