calico cleanup report

I know picking up trash wasnt ever meant to be fun. Im sure some of us still managed to have fun, right? I met up with Steve Bricks and Alon@modbargains. I heard i just missed a couple of you guys on Sat night. You should have stayed! I took off late Sat night while Alon was out with a Jeep guy from adventure4x4.net. I just couldnt stay up any longer and i didnt want to sleep on the 3rd row seat hooks for a second night in a row. Note to self, bring a sleeping pad next time. Better yet, bring a twin sized matress for the back of the Expedition. I should have stayed until Alon got back, because i only made it to outlet center before i pulled off at a truck stop and slept until 9am

I wish i took more pics.

It was a good time - We should have stayed another night, but had business to attend to.

We went all the way up thru Mule Canyon and around the hills to the south. Stopped and had lunch, did a little rock - hounding and popped some targets -0 then we hit the highway around 2:45.

haha i talked to you when you were dumping off those tires!!

here are some pics, not too many:

Our Camp

My Truck:

First load of trash (box spring, couple windshields, ol shot up BBQ thing, lots of shot gun shells, misc chip boards, lots of propane tanks and of course many shards of glass)

The other side of the hill from our camp:

Scenery shot, i eventually made it to where all the other vehicles on the opposite side:

Cutting it close (scraped a couple times out there):

I drove about 100 yards in and a guy with a vid camera said to turn around...there were some people that were stuck pretty good up ahead...I would have gone in further but a Jeep was backing out and there was no way I could pass whilein there...so I just turned around:

The crazy colored hills:

I have a little vid but I been unable to hold a connection at home to get it uploaded to photobucket...

Nice pics, Justin.
2 questions remain unanswered.
1) What happenedto the dude with the stripped wheel stud?
2) What is Alon's final damage assessment?

Final damage assessment....

1 broken shock
2 blown headlights
2 broken fan belts
1 bent cooler
MANY beer cans emptied out

After justin took off... Mike and I hitchhiked and got a ride with an H1.. did some rock crawling with the H1 psycho squad and came down odessa... crazy.

All the jeepers told us we would never make it...never underestimate the H1's

I called AutoZone in Barstow and they had a couple of belts for a Corvair for $12. Alon didnt wanna go pick them up because the lights still needed to be wired, etc. Everybody in camp was sad, no ride in the buggy!

Those belts suck real hard. Too lose, it flies off. Too tight, it breaks. If you get one working use the crap out of it.
I saw the buggy actually running on Friday afternoon. Hauled a$$!
Oh, yeah. 2 words.

Buggy is going to get a pretty major tear down here... While in glamis i saw a pretty cool bump/droop stop mounted...might look into that.

Also going to rewire the whole thing with fuse/relay boxes, need to move foot pedals a few inches forward, new spark plug wires, want to try and get some new air shocks or coilovers in the back and on and on.... just need to sell the quad.
