Thumbs up Cold air intake sys.

? what if i were to cut out that extra plastic side stuff thats attached to the OEM air intake tube.and wrap it with duct tape to cover cut holes. would that be the same as those big $$$ sys...

NO, you'll just suck the duct tape into your engine. Those 'extra plastic side stuff" are 1/4 wave resonators tuned to different frequencies. They don't have an effect on restriction of the inlet system. You can take them off and will notice noise peaks when you drive, but it won't improve your performance or fe..

I cut off the silencers off the front of my factory intake and put rubber plugs into the 2 holes that were left. I did this about 2 years ago. The plugs cant be sucked into the intake because they have an outer rim on them that stay on the outside of the intake tube.

Plugs are good. Duct tape bad! When I worked in powertrain, we would plug them as well with rubber plugs. For added security we would also use hose clamps, but efx4 is correct, plugs will work.

I didn't notice any difference. When I installed the Diablo Sport programmer to my F-150, that's when I noticed a difference in performance.
