Just an update, I did get some done, but my girlfriend has been hording the CPU so I have not had a chance to post pics. Will tomarrow, so we can start deciding on guage locations, and how they look in different spots.

So got some more done.

Got the rings mounted, so can see if we like the placement. I had a few friend come over, and this is what we got.

Placement looks about where I figured. However, they seem to be tipped back a bit? Are they level?

I'm more inclined to go with level myself. Think it'll be easier to read different styles of gauges. Level would make digital gauges easier for sure. Looks good so far! Nice work KRD!

KRD, how tall are you? If you're average height, say between 5'-6" and 6'-0", make them so you can see them comfortably from the seat. That should cover most of us. I know, I know... You're not going to make everyone happy. I think you're on the right track!

Level isn't gonna be horrible if it's what everybody else prefers, but I think slightly leaned back (say 5* or so) is easiest to read. I'm average height - about 5'-10".

Personally I'd like to see the gauges as close to hugging the dash as possible. They might be about there with where you have them, but in the pics it looks like they could go down a bit.
Having them close to the dash keeps them in closer proximity to the other guages - making them easier to see in the same glance, and also eliminates what little blind spot they might cuase being up higher.

The above is obviously personal opinion, and I know you'll never please everybody, so build whatever the majority wants. I for one know whatever it is will be much better than our current options

I know I will not make everyone happy, we just have to find a medium. I'm 6'1", maybe I will hook a battery up to it and take some night pics. I have my welding class tonight, so not much is going to be done tonight. probably just the pics, unless I get out early.

Thanks for the feedback, that is what is going to get this done as quickly as possible. BTW, I figured 2-3 weeks to get the first one made, then a week to make a cast, then it is smooth sailing from there.

I dont think they can be mounted much closer to the dash, due to the fact that he needs room to make a smooth contour from the pillar to the gauge 'pod'.

that depends on how he does it.

Also, the guages could also be closer together IMO which could make smoothing between the 2 easier.
