screw w/ 5.5 or 6.5

looks like ford is pushing the screw with 6.5' box which is an uncommon truck with the current model. i did see one yesterday (08) and it doesn't look bad. i guess with the bigger cab on the 09 it will bring the proportions closer. i'm thinking of ordering an 09 before i even see one so i'm looking for opinions on which will be more common on the 09.

i have a 97 supercab now and i like it. i should probably get another one like it but i am also taking looks into consideration. the best looking truck is the screw 5.5. however with the cab getting 6" longer the 6.5 might look better with the screw. i'm just looking for opinions. i am glad they are finally going to paint the door handles and mirrors again.

Here let me see if this pics show up.

09 Screw w/5.5 bed:

Screw w/6.5 bed:

To me, the 5.5 Screw still looks very good and proportional while the 6.5 Screw looks like one long a$$ truck!

Untill you really need that extra foot in the bed and you're kicking yourself because you didn't get it
6.5 S Crew...all the way, I see more and more of them on the road everyday and even sitting on dealers lots.

good point HD. this is my delema. the screw 5.5 looks best, the supercab 6.5 fits my needs the best, the screw 6.5 gets the best of both worlds but it does make for a long truck.

I think the long bed actually looks better and as long as the truck turns well the extra foot will not be a big issue, but I would test drive both before buying anything.

The 5.5 bed is fine if you don't need a truck.

That's a good one. I would never buy a Screw unless it had a 6.5' bed.

oh please don't turn this into another 5.5 bed bashing thread. There are plenty of posers driving trucks with 6.5 or 8' beds that don't really use them as trucks either. Or if they put a toolbox in then they're right back to having a smaller sized bed.

We're only talking 1 freaking foot difference! There's plenty of things that you still can't haul in the 6.5' bed unless you have the tailgate down.

I got the 5.5 bed. I've hauled plenty of stuff including mulch, topsoil, firewood, dead deer, furniture, washer/dryer, queen size beds, a 12' long ladder, etc. Sure you might have to put the tailgate down but that's why Ford provided tie down points so you can use straps/etc.

I've got to say, I would personally buy the 6.5 ft bed, but in the 2nd picture that long truck made the back doors look really short.
