MAP Sensor Boost Gauge?

Is there any way to tap into the map sensor with a volt meter or something and use it as a boost gauge?

I suppose it's possible but you will need something to convert the digital signal into something useful (psi). If there are elctrical PSI gages, I would bet they are analog the MAP is digital, it's a variable capacitance sensor supplied with a 5-volt reference signal from the (PCM) and produces a digital frequency signal.

this is how banks provides the boost signal to the 6 gun tuner, it shows 1 psi lower than the auto enginuity live data feed though

Well you convet to psi yourself. Like for every Hz or whateverer = 3 psi. you see what I mean? I talking poor man stuff a way to test without buying expensive gauges and having to setting them up.

Scat, if you can get a guage to read volts, I will pull up my Auto Enginuity and tell you what voltage applies to what boost pressure, the live scan give that info.

i have the "poor mans gauge" you can tee into the map lne and get a diagnostic pressure gauge from any autoparts store dirt cheap,

but based on your signature you dont need a boost gauge and i'd save up the cash to buy one

Why wouldnt I need a boost gauge? What kind of boost should I get with my set up? I did get a 30 dollar gauge and it never reads more than 1 LB. Either the gauge is wrong or I have leaks I cant find. Thats why I am looking into things.

sorry, i didnt see the edge chip, but either way unless you have a miracle motor you wont be in any danger of overboosting. and since you do have an edge chip i would definatly say you need to spend the money on a pyrometer before anything else.

if you only get 1 psi but the truck runs good then you have a gauge issue. you shoudl be between 15 and 20psi under full load over 2800 rpm. normal cruise 0-1 psi is normal.
