tires sizes, what do we do?
My little Brother just bought a 1997 F-150 and needs new tires.
He wants to get the biggest tires on there with out rubbing, I think the tires on there now are 245/75/16, what size do you think we can get on there.

If it's a 4x4, then 305/70-16's (33/12.50)are the largest. He might have to give the torsion bars a couple of turns, but they'll fit. If it's a 2 wheel drive, then 285/75-16's might fit with a little trimming of the front valance, otherwise a 265/75-16 is a good bet there.

I was told by a local tire dealer that 285'75'16's would fit without a problem on a 4x4. The car dealership tried to pass off 225's on mine when I bought my 97 4x4 a couple months ago and they looked like little toy tires in the wheelwell. I ended up getting what was called for on my door which is 255/75/16's and they still look small but much better.
