89 7.3L Oil Pressure

Hi everyone. I just installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Once I started the truck after i installed it my "engine" light came one. Could that be because the old wire is disconected?

My pressures are 38PSI @ 200RPM
12PSI @ Idle (750RPM)

Are those pressures okay for a truck with 410K miles

Thanks
Kevin

When I put on my mechanical gauge I installed a tee fitting and left the factory sender hooked up.

I have about the same psi you do and I have about 220,000 miles.

I was going to put on a T fitting but my auto parts store didn't have any. I went to home depot and got one that fit but i didnt install it. I think it might of made my pressure look lower then it really is. Thanks

yup. the check engine light on the idi diesel only comes on if you loose oil pressure.
