I found a 2001 f250 extcab powerstroke 2wd 157k for sale with a bad transmission for like $6000 How much would I have into rebuilding the trans and do youi think its worth it? Also what is a good shop I could take it to any help is apreciated
Just my 2 cents worth...that seems like an awful lot for a truck that is 8 model years old with 157k and no tranny. You might be better off considering a remanufactured crate tranny instead of having the current one rebuilt...unless you can find a good tranny man to do it cheap. A crate tranny would also carry a warranty from the manufacturer.
Bud thats alot of miles for that year. Now even if it's all hgwy miles. What did he do to fry the tranny? I would look into an autowrecker for a tranny. I'm sure you can find one with a whole lot less miles on it. JMO.
Good luck with what you decide.
