Measuring a pushrod...

I have an adjustable pushrod length checker, my question is what do you use to get an exact measurment of the pushrod after the valvetrain geometry is set up? My dial caliper is only 6''. Who makes a bigger one?

I'd take it to a machine shop or maybe even an auto parts store, and have them measure it for you. An eight inch dial caliper that's accurate is gonna be pretty expensive for possibly a one time use.
