Help Engine Help

This truck is going to put me under

This morning the engine was knocking really bad. I let it warm up for 10 minutes. It got a little better, gave it some throttle and it was iffy. Finally threw it into gear and got rollin. Ran ****ty for a little and finally got rollin. It's running like a champ at the moment, but a big wrench popped up on the display.

Any ideas? This is in warm weather it was about 40 at night. Just did oil change 3k miles ago. It has 52k miles on it, it's a job one.

All services are done on time. I change the fuel filters every 10k, oil every 5k.

You might want to check your fuel for gasoline contamination. My wife bought a tank of diesel last year at a station that catered to tourists; turned out that it was 50-50 diesel and gasoline. The only thing that we could figure was that the delivery truck put gasoline in the wrong underground tank.

We even checked her receipt - it stated diesel so the mistake wasn't hers. The truck surged and knocked, similar to what you describe.

Pull your fuel filters and see if you can smell any gas in the diesel.
