Camshaft for 390???

Hey I'm rebuilding my 390 and I'm looking for a good torque cam. I thought about going with the crane cam 343941 but my parts guy is telling me that a comp cam 332264 with a mild rough idle work work good for my application. I have 44 inch tires and want lots of bottom end has anyone ever ran either of these cams??

No its not the extreme energy one they figured that one wouldn't work well for what I was building...

I'm running the 343941 and couldn't imagine having more torque! I'm also running 2.75 gears w/ 29" tires if that tells you anything.

Comp 33-226-4 is the 270H Magnum cam line. Might be a bit much for those 44" tires. If you want bottom end, look for a smaller cam, like the 252H to the 268H.

Nah, its a relatively smooth cam. Now how do I describe that via internet?--> Well I'll be sitting there at the light all warmed up and its smooth but you'll feel a jerk every now and again. But it def aint' rockin the boat like big sharp bump sticks. Very smooth for such a high lift cam. I'm very please w/ it except for my lifter that clacks on me!

Just watch what oil you use. I broke mine in w/ rotella t 15w40 w/ the crane break in additive. Next time, I'm using valvoline vr1 racing oil w/ GM's EOS. Also take your time in setting up your valve lash. Run all your numbers 10 times so that you're sure of what you have.
