Towing Limit, Owners Manual

Just reading the owners manual and happened to notice something about towing, our trucks, equipped with the HD towing package, are limited to 15,000 GCVW. After reading the manual it seems that the transmission is the weak spot, they say if you tow over weight damage to the trans will occur, not anything else. Kinda weird huh? I think they are going to use this 6R75 in the new F-150s. I wonder if they will change something to set new tow rating and if we'll reap the rewards?

Interesting that you can only get the 9,200 Max Towing on a Standard 3.31 Rear Axle with optional HD Tow Package (Non-EL model, 4x2 or 4x4 only).

Once you go to the 3.73 rear the Max Tow rating Drops...

9,050 (non-EL 4x4) with 3.73 optional rear and optional HD Tow

9,000 (EL 4x2) with 3.73 standard rear and optional HD Tow
8,750 (EL 4x4) with 3.73 standard rear and optional HD Tow

Without the HD Tow Package ALL Expeditions Max Tow is ONLY 6,000
