Chevy 8.1
This might be the wrong place to ask but I was wondering how the 8.1 stacked up against the v10.

That 8.1L will drink gas like a drunken sailor swilling rum. It makes the V-10 look thrifty!
But, 25 HP more and 82 lb ft of torque more coming in lower in the power band makes for one real nice pulling V-8. Too bad it comes wrapped in a Chevy!
ALso, transmissions behind them (Torqshift and Allison) are both stellar transmission for pulling.

Ford 6.9L V10
HP 362@4750
Torque 457@3250
Chevrolet Engines: 8.1L V8
Power: 325 HP SAE @ 4,200 rpm
Torque: 447 ft lb @ 3,200 rpm
Looks Like Ford Wins =)

Hmmmm....those specs I cut and pasted for the V-10 look more like the 5.4L specs.
Sorry about that.

Now that's a scary thought. Are you sure the chevy #'s are right? 325 hp out of 494 cubic inches sounds low

No, I grabbed all specs from the same web site (automobilemag.com) so I would say none are trustworthy.

We call it Hooterville, actual name of the town is Hortonville, a bit northeast of Appleton WI.
Hooterville sounds more.....enjoyable.

Yeah, 330/450 is the rating. Wow, that is a lot of size for that little bit of power.
Appelton, WI. Home town of Rocky Blier and Bliers bar. (probably long gone)

As a side note, the 8.1 burns a lot of oil.
