New Camshaft, and headers, no shifting

You are re-setting the computer, not the battery. Draining the battery would serve no purpose, it might even kill the battery if drained too low. Removing the negative cable is like unplugging your pc from the wall.

I have my doubts if this will solve your problem, but it doesn't cost anything to try.

I don't know what cam you installed, but you have a heavy truck, and the cam should be designed for torque, not high rpm horsepower. I read your post in the other forum, and for 3 grand you could have turbo/supercharged with much greater results. Supercharging gives you the biggest bang for the dollar spent. jd

I agree but the expense came from reparing the head, and all the labor to remove both and replace headgaskets, and add waterpump and cam, the cam was only an extra $400 along with new chain. For me to have added a supercharger it would have been closer to $7,000-$8,000, because I would of wanted to add a cam to handle all the extra air coming into the engine, and I would prob want to replace other components to be able to handle the air coming in, so I dont regret what i did. I have broughten the truck back to the shop so hopefully they can figure out whats the problem. The truck wont shift at all unless i floor it, but even then it still remains high in the RPM range. The engine also starts poorly, and when i go to rev the engine, it bogs real low before it responds, I think i need a custom tune would be my guess. The cam isnt to big at all, the cam didnt even require me to swpy out the valve springs, so its obvioulsy isnt that aggressive. I think it had like .490 lift, but i dont know much about it, he just ordered through his NAPA catalog and said it would work.
