V10 Timing belt/chain......What service interval?

I am new to the modular engine and bought the truck used.
What is the service interval for timing chain or belts? Is this even a service/ maint item?
I have 94k on the truck and just want to stay ahead on the PM.
I do not know the service history of the truck.

Modular motors have two long timing chains under a cover on the front of the engine block/heads. There isn't anything as far as I know to maintain them. Usually the valve seals will get sloppy and the valvetrain will get noisey long before the timing chain goes south.

Best thing you can do IMO is run good clean oil and good MC filters.

With good maint. you should be able to see another 150k out of that engine.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I can handle the oil changes, they are sooo easy on this truck (no jack needed).

Yeah, I have yet to use a jack to change oil.

The benefits of buying trucks.

I am hoping so, my last Ford lasted me 375k and was still going strong when I sold it. ('92 straight six)

4.9L straight six? Those things were horses. My brother had one in an old F150 that he drove the pee out of. The odometer/spedometer cable broke at 228,000. He was still driving it 9 years later until Katrina took it. Estimated the mileage at 510,000. He drove that thing 5 days a week, from Bay St.Louis, MS to New Orleans pulling a 6,000 lb refrigerated trailer full of sea food. He loved that truck.

You'll see an easy 250K+ miles out of the OEM chains on the modulars. The design is good with plenty of lubrication for long life, and low wear.

Change them (and the guides and tensioners) when they make noise.

Until then, leave well enough alone

They should start making noise, like Johnny Langton said, around 250K or so I hear
