And another Topic for discussion would be;
Helping out a member that's either Stuck in a Rut about working on their truck & needs encouragement or
Needs the help due to a physical condition/injury & is unable to do the work by themselves, has never done whatever is intended being done to their truck or
Just having someone to around to share in the comraderie just makes it that much more fun & the time wiz by.

Guys,

We have a '69 F100 our family wouldnt mind turning into a chapter group project. My fiancee and her mother will even keep it registered and insured. It was my fiancee's father's truck when he passed away almost 2 years ago. He wanted to fix up the truck, but never found the time and was running into health problems. The previous owner before him was my fiancee's uncle, who passed away and left it to my fiancee's father. I put wooden siding on it to take a couple of loads of trash to the dump which i plan to remove in the future. I had dreams of stuffing the biggest motor possible in it, maybe a 4x4 conversion or just making it a nice slick boulevard cruiser. Its just sitting here in the driveway waiting for attention. Its up to you guys

Sounds like a perfect project truck, and the price is right too! And if you stuff the biggest motor in it, and convert it to 4x4 you will have another ThumperRoo, as that is what the Nor-Cal chapter is doing with their '72 truck. However, a blvd basher is also cool.

69 = smog exempt
Cali truck = rust free, or at most minimal
Lots of room under hood = easy to work on

I don't see a lot of downside to this.

Hehe, lets make it so then. I dont see a problem with the truck moving from different members garages every month or so depending on whats being done, and who specializes in what. The guys here seem to be very mature and responsible. Im going to drive the truck to the March meeting at Don Jose's so everyone can see it and we can kick the tires. Ill have my fiancee drive the Expedition

Count me in...I prolly have NOS parts stashed somewhere for a 1969, and have dozens of local sources for whatever will be needed.

We could always built that 500hp 300 I-6 to install in her from "Custom Classic Truck" magazine article "The Joy of Six" & make the truck a real head turning Sleeper.

that looks like a good deal, but just so i know whats going on, what is wrong with the truck ie what doesnt work? gauges, heater, AC lights, missing trim, bad carpet, bad head liner, bad seat, leaks, what kind of shape is the bed in, is it 2 tanks or 1, what motor is in it now, radio/speekers, rust spots(not just skin cancer, but rusted though), what trany, rear end.......

but this looks like fun, i love the bump sides!!!

We have the best resource for parts that anyone could have, so that is no prob. All the things you mentioned are easy fixes, as for as that goes. If I had to guess on the motor, which I am, I would say 360. F-100, probably single gas tank. Rust? Bah! No way. It's a Cali truck! (Well, maybe some rust, but panels are pretty easily fixed.

Definitely sounds like a perfect truck to use for a project vehicle. And it looks to be in good shape judging by that picture.

it looks like it has an aftermarket tank there on the passenger side, the main tank is in the cab behind the seat with the filler on the driver side just below where the black roof paint starts, so i would guess 2 tanks, and yes that is all easy stuff but lots of little things add up to big $

Not necessarily. It is going to cost SOME money, no matter what. But the initial start up is nil - that's tough to beat. We have to iron out what we are willing to spend, what we ultimately want to do to and with the project. Good meeting fodder.
