What is the proper way to install the side vent glass on a 49' F2? I heard there was some tape available but that doesnt sound like it would be thick enough. The original piece looks like it was molded rubber.

 

If it's like the 53-56, there is a special tape you put on the glass and then push into the frame. Some people add some black silicone sealer also. After you push it into place you can trim off the excess tape with an exacto knife. Sacramento Vintage Ford and Mid-fifties sells the tape. Good luck, Jag
