Reman 4.6 engine
Hello. New to the forum and hoping I could get some advice. I have a '98 F150 4.6 Windsor motor, 130k miles, runs great, no smoking, knocking or oil consumption problems. The head gasket(s) are leaking combustion to coolant. I looked at the truck and the book and decided I would prefer to take the extra time to remove the engine and do the job on an engine stand. At first I figured on sending the heads out for a likely resurface, and then replacing gaskets, and maybe timing chain set and lifters for general princable. This is a truck I use and downtime is important. I starting thinking about reman longblocks as a quicker job and if high quality hopefully I can get another 100k out of the engine. Ford has one for about $2900. I spoke to them, they are not done in house but rather by a rebuilder for Ford. I have seen Marshall remans for $2200-$2500., as well as other brands. The money isnt an issue, but I do want the best value for the money. I love the truck, I bought it cheap, I'll probally keep it forever, and I'll save by doing the job myself. So my question is does anyone have any experiance with differant brands of remans, or any other advice. I wont consider a junkyard engine.
Thankyou.
Thankyou.
