efi intakes, 393 build
sorry i should have written this down lol, (don't have the net at home) ok ive decided to build a 393w for my e250 4x4, i was plannin on goin e40d with it but am now thinkin about aod, anyways im lookin to have about 9.5-1 (no more then 10-1) ive been lookin for some of those cheap gt40p? heads that come out on explorers, i used to see them in summit and jegs but not anymore, any if i can't get thoose im gonna just port and polish either the 78 heads i have or the 69 (witch one would be better?) and install bigger valves 1.94's/ 1.60's i have a 94 (thought it was a 96) intake from a bronco witha 5.8, what im wondering is will a upper intake for a 5.0 fit on there? there is this box intake for $100 and i need a throttle body anyways so why not convert to mustang right away, and for a cam i was thinkin a lunati voodoo cam its the second or third from the bottom with a range of 1400-5800 and ive told strokers lower the range of the cam 4-500 rpm ad that puts me about where i want it rpm wise the motor is gonna be pushin 14'' wide 35's and the sound system/bench is close to 800 pounds plus at least 200 lbs worth of sound deadeners and insulation, and up to 8-9 people in there, i don't want it to over heat but i don't want it to be a dog either, it needs to be able to spin the tires in the goo, and be tame enough to drive 3-400 miles on a trip it will have 1 5/8 equal leght shorty headers and a 2.5'' tru dual exuast with 14'' glass packs. (will hopin to get 13-15 mpg with the cruise set)

Since your looking for that amount of power, I'd forget about the factory heads and the factory truck intakes. You will also need at least a 80mm MAF and 30 lb injectors plus a more powerful fuel pump.
What do you plan on using for the computer? A tuner will be required for this build. The computer will also be different if you plan on running the E4OD or AOD transmission.

AOD is not computer controlled so if going that route is no big deal. get some world products senior heads, and trick flow upper/lower intake. run a mass air setup like stated above and expect to have need a dyno tune as well. i would also recommend a custom cam grind vs an off the shelf .

E4OD in stock form is a pile, until 97 gas engines had aluminum planetary sets weak shifting they are huge and not very strong. I would run a 4R70W(electronic aod) they can be built alot cheaper. My E4OD cost me $750 to have built(steel planets, shift kit, good clutches and steels, and shift control box) I know the guy gave it to me cheaper. Did the 4R70W for my friends truck kevlar clutches, shift kit and his new sundrum full build on both his was $400 and shifts alot smoother runs cooler.
As for your 393 stock heads won't do, AFR makes nice heads. Intake your looking at a single plane set up with a elbow and tb, Im doing the same intake set up on my 400. Curious how it will do compared to the stock intake.

What people don't realize is that the weakest part of an E4OD is the single disk lock-up converter they get from the factory; when one fails it will take out the transmission in a hurry. The key to helping an E4OD live longer is to keep it cool.
I've been abusing my E4OD for the past 5 years, on the road and at the track, and it performs very well. I have a 11" billet 2800 stall, multi-disk lockup converter on it, a B&M deep trans pan and a trans cooler from a 99+ Powerstroke diesel. The trans temp hangs around 165 in the heat of the summer and the internals of the transmission are still in stock form.

Mine I have a Derale extra capacity pan on it, 28,000gvw cooler on the front with a fan that kicks on at 180, and a extrnal fl1a filter total I hold 22qts of Merc V. In 20degrees after 35-40mins running at 55 my tranny temp will be at a solid 150deg. hook the tri-axle trailers to it in the summer the fan comes on. And I got a updated convertor in it too, WOT 1-2 still seems weak to me.
