Next 2009 f150 Media Release from Ford

Since the Chicago Auto Show has arrived, and the only new information released thus far is the "work solutions package", does anyone know when or where ford will release the next batch of information on the 2009's?

Is there more 2009 f150 information coming through the end of the Chicago Auto Show?

You're a lucky guy. Are you from NY? I like the looks and options on the 2009s, but I think I will hold onto my 2004 F150 a few more years. Of course, when they put the eco-boost (twin force sounds so much cooler) engines in the F150, I may have to reconsider.

nah nj but from my school its only like 15min to get to midtown by train, which is the best part not having to drive into Manhattan, and yea i think a twin turbo setup would be even better then a 6.2l boss

sorry i geuss im old fashion but i live by the saying that there is no replacement for displacement. The turbos would be nice if your just doing highway work but all of our pickups do work on our ranch so low end is important, the ecobost just is not for me i guess.

By 2010, Chrysler will have at least one new vee diesel engine programme. This could be modelled on one of two engines developed with the US Department of Energy - a 250hp 4.2-litre V6 and a 350bhp 5.6-litre V8.

In October 2006, Cummins announced a "new family of light duty diesels for vehicles below 8,500lb to be built in a new US$250m facility in Columbus, Indiana, creating 200 jobs. Production will commence "no later than 2010". In 2006, Cummins made its 1.5 millionth engine for Chrysler's Dodge brand.

Ford will have three new vee diesels - a 4.4-litre V8 and the larger 6.7-litre V8, both to be built in Chihuahua, Mexico. The 4.4-litre engine is derived from the 3.6-litre V8 diesel built at Dagenham, UK. A third, low-volume vee diesel is also on the stocks.
Finally, General Motors is set to launch two new diesels - a 4.5-litre V8 and a 3.4-litre V6. The V8 will be built in GM's plant in Tonawanda, New York, where US$141m is being invested in facility and vendor tooling. The engines will meet 2010 emissions standards. The state-of-the art V8 engine will be offered in vehicles under 8,000lb GVW and the Hummer H2. GM will also offer a new 2.9-litre V6 diesel in Europe through VM Motori in Italy.

It is expected all six US engines will have compacted graphite iron (CGI) cylinder blocks, although only GM has admitted its engines will use this material in the US and Europe. Cummins has not mentioned CGI but will need the material to compete with Ford and GM. Ford uses CGI blocks for its V6 and V8 diesels in Europe.

Last December, Cifunsa, a subsidiary of the Mexico-based Grupo Industrial Saltillo (GIS) took delivery of additional sampling modules from SinterCast, which has developed class-leading CGI foundry process control technology. These are being installed for new volume production CGI programmes now in the prototyping and pre-production phases.

The plan is for it to be on the V8's as well is it not? Even the 6.2 eventually I thought. Theres your displacement for off the line that then doubles once you get going!

So I guess on your ranch you don't use diesel's? (meaning all trucks 3/4 - 1 ton rigs that are diesel are indeed turbocharged. Heck Ford even added 1 to make 2 of them last year

I would be willing to bet a significant amount of money that none of your N/A V8's make more low end trq than my V6 turbo charged Buick.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I personally am all for ecoboost turbocharged E85 truck. 108 octane and a turbocharger, that just means a lot and I mean a LOT of potential.

Todays turbo's do not have the lag like the old ones did. Many are variable displacement to spool up quick, then continue boosting thru the entire rpm range.

I completley agree when it comes to haveing major power and basically everything... im a huge big block fan,....but to get emmisions and good fuel economey and still have usable great power.... a small block with turbos and well intercooled will be able to work hard( maybe not as hard) but maintain a better fuel economy. This is what the we need right now with fuel prices going up...

Im all about big blocks but haveing one now is because you want one and you want to have fun, its not practical anymore hardley...

granted multiple cylinder shut down has helped that problem with fuel economy

well technically they dont, but if the engine overheats it will then run on alternating 4cylinders, so im sure if they can do that they can do cylinder shut off if they wanted to
