Thanks! I would have liked the timing to be less but paint and body took longer than expected.

And your crew is sweet! The wheel & tire combo is killer!

1973 F250, 2WD. Sitting next to my 99 F350 CC, long bed 4X4, 7.3. I am considering painting it the same color as my 99. It is green metallic.

This is what it looked like when I got it. The previous picture is after I put new fenders and doors on it and layed down my TEMPORARY $30 rattle can paint job.

It's pretty solid BUT looks can be deceiving. It wasn't as solid as the seller described (SURPRISE) but I got a great deal on it and it's nothing that can't be fixed. The bed has a lot of bondo in it but I found a rust free bed cheap and I was able to get some nice fenders, doors, grill, bumper and a bunch of trim dirt cheap. I also have lined up a set of 4 doors off a F600 that are perfect and have the push button door handles which I like. I love the truck but I wish it was a 4WD but not a big deal. The 360 runs strong BUT it needs a new carb. I am going to put a 4bbl on it. I am hoping I can increase the MPG, this truck is brutal on gas. I am getting about 7 MPG in town but I think part of it is the old carb is shot and I'm hoping the new 4bbl will help. I plan on using it to tow my old cars to car shows
if I can afford the gas . I have a 99 CC 7.3 that gets about 13-14 even when towing. I suppose this old CC won't get above 5MPG, This is an automatic, what is the best it could do for MPG when tuned properly with a 4bbl?

Marty, you should really put together a build thread so we can all really dive into the details on just your truck.

There's a ton of things you can do to improve mileage but a lot of it is give&take. My best tank to date has been 18mpg driving empty on the freeway with a very light foot, will be putting a new top end on my engine and increasing compression while also adding a cam and some other things so hoping I can break the 20mpg barrier but it wouldn't be an Average deal.

That's a good idea, Where is the appropriate place to start the build thread? I do really need to improve the mileage or this truck won't get driven much. Even at $1.88 Gal I can't justify using this as my daily driver which I was planning on doing to save the miles on my 99 CC 7.3L. My strongest area of vehicle restoration is paint and body work. I am an ok mechanic but a better body man. Any help on increasing PG would be greatly appreciated.

Just start a new thread in the 73-79 section.

If you weren't so far away I'd happily swap you Mechanical for Body work. haha

Yeah I have done several build threads on other forums but they never seem to get much attention. Apparently my creative writing skills are not as engaging to the reader as some others who do a build thread and it goes crazy with 50 pages of replies on what I consider to be a pretty bland build. I probably will when I really get into the build. Right now I am doing pretty routine stuff to make it a better driver UNTIL I get a permanent spot in my garage hopefully this summer when I get my 65 Ford Country Squire custom wagon done.

The main reason I started my thread was because I've done so much "little stuff" I have started loosing track.

And surprisingly even with the Hydroboost, ZF5 and other write-ups my thread doesn't get a great deal of attention, but since it's mainly for my personal record I'm not too concerned with how much traffic it gets.
