I have 2 sets of rear doors 1 set badly rusted and the other beat to heck but what i have noticed is that none are perfect at the top where the window rest when rolled up, no one alike either so this makes me think that there never was a factory door skin for the rear just a cut down version of the front and made to work ( I do not know this for fact, just a guess)but I think if you study the rear doors inside and out you can take just about any part of a front door and make it work for your rear

Yup - from what I have heard/read, the factory pulled 2 cabs off the assembly line to MAKE the crew cabs. The rear doors were a set of front doors that got "shortened" in the factory.

That's correct. If you look at the DS rear door it has the 2 holes in it for the vin tag.

I have a set of rear doors I need to reskin.I plan on robbing the skin from a front door.Has anyone done this or have suggestions on how to establish the leading edge crimp?I can cut the skin about 1/2" long and dolly it over I hope.I just haven't figured how to transfer the profile over and start the flange easily.

I found some emblems today that just day "Crew Cab" on them.
They were with a bunch of old 70's parts I just got.
They are faded and look almost copper colour.
What colour were they to start with?

Hey guys. FYI, I sold my cab today. I still have 2 79 F250 4x4 frames that are 133" wheel base. I'm wondering if anyone would be needing a longer wheel base 79 F250 4x4 frame, and I could splice the 2 together. If there is any interest in this, let me know. It'll be $200 for whatever length you need with good 3" springs, D44/D60 sway bars, and most of a steering gear box. AWS certified welder (blah, blah, blah) I weld frame extensions on bucket trucks at work all the time. Will be professional.
If no interest in the next week, I chop em up and scrap em. If you wont have the money for a while thats cool just let me know now so I don't scrap em. I would trade for just about anything besides goats. I did'nt really mean for this to be a classified ad, I just know there's a lot of you 2wd guys wanting to go 4wd, and a crew cab makes it even harder.

i have found a truck just like this and was thinking about converting it to a 4wd but decided against it. and if you say yours is a 2wd and your replacing that front I-beam with a D60 then be prepared for a lot of fab work thats almost cheaper and easier to buy a 4wd crewcab.

I just went and looked at a rusty old 76 crew cab 4x4.
The motors on its last legs and the truck is kinda rough.
He wants $200 for it?
Is there anything on a crewcab thats unique and worth $200?
The cab itself isnt real bad but the doors arent the greatest.

Thats a clean truck Anthony, (I dig those old slotted mags big time) good wish list. How much is the owner asking? I like the pics linked this way, so they pop up in a new small window, how do you do that?
