an update for those on this thread that don't know me....an update. I will post pics in the next couple of days. I've been sitting on a 75 cc 4by for a few months....6 other notable projects going. I purchased the truck for 900. The cab is nearly pristine with beginnings of rust on pass floorboard and a small amount on a door jam. Top is great w/o any sign of rust to include dip rails. Bed is horrible....rusted out good.

I just bought a 390 attached to the proper c-6. Both in working condition i've been told. 390 shows decent compression 133-139#. i'll rip er down before i put it in and replace bearings etc as i have another std bore 390 with good heads to build proper and i'd prefer standard tranny with over/underdrive. I just saw a local missoulian who put a nice 79 cc from a 2wd on a 4x4 frame...did a great job. Has a 460 in it, loaded air etc.

any suggestions appreciated.

Greetings. I just came in here to find out how to fix my differential and now I'm worried about rust! It has a few specks where there are paint chips around the doors etc and it sounds like I need to look under the headliner. It's a 1978 F350 2wd Crew Cab "Custom" with a 351 modified, 2bl carb, C6 trans (I think) and I'm not sure which differential but it's full floating so I guess a Dana 60? It's pretty much all stock except it had different wheels on the front and back when I got it (3rd owner) so now the wheels all match. I've had it about 10 years and I've been driving it all this time (well, not all the time) and it has about 96,000 miles on it. It has developed a loud hum/whine in the drivetrain which from what I've read is likely the differential. Now I guess I'll go back and read the FAQs. And look for rust. Cya.

Are cc windshields the same as other trucks? My 76 needs a new one really bad, I dont know if they are diffrent because of the roofs being hand made. Also where can we get full rubber mats for your floors? I am going to be using the truck to pull my boat with and want it to be easy to clean out. Thanks for all the help guys!!!

The crew windshields are the same as the others. The cab is just a standard cab that was taken off the assembly line and stretched.

Not sure what to tell you on the rubber type floor mat thing.

'75 crew cab driveline manual tranny swap

i'm looking at a np 435 out of a 72 2wd f100. Or a t-18 out of a '69 f250.

The crew came with a c6. I'm resigned to having to have a driveline made from tranny to 205 case. Are there other options? ie did they come with either tranny stock so i could get a scrapyard driveline.

Also...see any issue with using pedals etc from the earlier trucks since mine is a '75.

thanks

There are a few places around. Like at JBG. There are a few different colors. I intend to get one but haven't yet. Most of the feedback on them is good.

2WD to 4WD

It looks like I will be doing a 4wd conversion to the crew cab. I am going to be buying a 1975 f250 highboy That has every thing I need to do the swap. Even has a rebuilt 390 with an auto. That make it the best deal for me.

No one reproduces the read doors for the crew cabs. Time to junk yard hunt and/or pay through the teeth - they are getting hard to find...

It's quite easy to change the cab or door vin tag to correspond with a 78 title. It's also very easy to put a 78 grille shell on an earlier model. Check the upper frame rail on the passenger side for the vin # of the frame.
