crewcab doors

I have an 85 crew that I need to replace the rear doors on. I was wondering if anyone knew if 87 to 96 doors would work and if the body lines would be correct?

Body lines will be correct. I'm not sure if they will work but they should. You're in the wrong forum though...

Update!!!!
Ok, the plans for my brother's crew cab has changed....We took the 78 almost rust free f350 crew cab and set it on a 95 F350 4X4 chassis-reg cab/long bed....I put some pics in my gallery of the cab on the chassis and the body mounts we had to fab/modify. In fact, the modified mounts gave the truck almost 3" of body lift.

We also had to modify the steering column since 78 was WAY to long, in fact it put the wheel all the way to the backrest of the seat(i dont think I put pics of the modified steering column in my gallery yet though).
The bed is going to have to be shortened, like 17" or so...It will be about a 5 ft bed or so...We are also using the 95 ZF 5sp so we have to modify the clutch in the 78 to operate the hydraulic clutch. I will post pics of that once it is completed....
One prob we ran into first off was that the 95 engine sits different in the frame, so the firewall hit the valve covers and cant move the cab far enough forward to center the wheel in the wheel well. So we are going to "massage" the fenders with a cut off wheel/sawzall......I/we have the steering, brakes, body mounts finnished, now all is left is the clutch and fuel to get straightened out and it will atleast move out of the garage under its own power....
If anyone is interested, you can take a look at my gallery(since I have not yet been able to figure out how to post pics in the forum)....any questions/comments are welcome....

yes the d60 closed knuckle was put under that truck. I had one under the 74 crew cab before the body swap.-it was one of the main reasons we did a newer truck/chassis swap....

Can any one tell me if I am correct in what I think I have read? Is the crew cab the same frame width as a high boy? Can you make a 2wd in to a 4wd easily?

Yeah the crews have the same frame as the highboys. No as far as a 4wd conversion "easy" depends on your abilities. Check the offroad forum for "cheetos crew build". Thats my thread where im converting my 79 crew to 4wd. I already have leafs up front but im now converting to coils so i have brackets for sale shortly to make it easier.

Ok so apparently some small minded people dont understand that the truck in this signature is a combination of many sarcasims. Please quit being stupid and study up before you run your mouth about it.

I was thinking about selling my crewcab and all the parts I stockpiled. Do you guys think it would be good to sell now or wait for the economy to get better?

Sell, sell, sell, and cheap too!...but only to me
only kidding...that is really a judgement call, if you need the cash, sell now but ask what you feel it is worth, if you get your price sell it, sometimes we hold onto stuff that a guy would've bought when he needed it and got it from someone else and you are left holding onto it. Try putting a list together and see what kind of response you get, good luck w/ it.

pip-clark...my 74 f250 crew cab had a closed knuckle d60 in it from the factory.

Longbed?

ok well i posted this same truck on the regular 73-79 forum but since this one is dedicated to crews only i thought i would give it a try. i found a 1979 F-350 crew cab longbed. its 2wd because im pretty sure they didnt make 4wd longbeds, did they im 98% sure they didnt but if someone knows for sure that would be great if you could set me strait. well i was wondering how rare this truck is because this is the first crew LONGBED i have ever seen and my dad has only seen two in his lifetim e and he was in the military and traveled this country.the man says it has a 390 but he doesnt know exactly. he said he would sell it for $800 and i thought that was awesome. but its 2wd and im looking for a 4wd crew. another question is what would it take to creat this truck a 4wd truck?

Nope - NO 4wd, longbed crews from this era.

As I said in the "normal" area of this forum - rarity is a relative term and the "rarity" of this truck depends on your location. Yes there are fewer of these trucks around than the standard cabs, but no they are not near as "rare" as people make them out to be when they sell them. When I really started looking to buy one I figured out just how common they are. As for a long bed being more rare than a short bed - same answer: it depends on your location. I seem to see about the same amount of long vs. short beds...

All 360's quickly turn into 390's when it comes time to sell the truck

A LOT of work. It can be done and would even be "easy" for some, but that all depends on your skill level and tool availability.
This has been covered a few times before. Do a search for 2wd to 4wd swap threads here - they are common. Also - down in the 4x4 and offroad forum a guy is working on one now. The thread name is "Cheetos truck build" or something like that.

What has everyone done for the roofs of their trucks?

Also....anyone use patch panels for the front doors and cut them down for the rear doors?

Search this thread for roof info - we've gone over it twice.

As for doors - that is about all you can do. I was going to cut up a front door to fix my dinged rear door.
