My rear cab doors came on this cab, they dont fit very well. I'll have to cut some off the bottom, so they will shut all the way, and the gaps are not straight all the way around. I'm guessing you'll have problems fitting any doors, original or not to a cab, if you want it perfect. All it takes is work.

Bendog - what do you mean cut some off the bottom so they shut all the way?? Didn't they shut at one time since they are from that cab??

Any other guys with some insight on this subject??

been lurking for about 6 months, Ive got a 74 crew 4x4 six cylinder 4speed, a 75 2wd 4 speed 360 short box, 74 reg cab hiboy 390 c6 and a spare 77 crewcab. In the process of putting the 74 crewcab on the hiboy frame for a family 4x4(41" irocs, propane pto winch on front elec winch on rear, cage). then take the spare 77 cab and install on 74 frame for a tow vehicle(cummins,35's ,f450 axles) Dean

johaner, when the factory put the cab together (at least mine), the reg cab was cut, and separated, the additional length was added to the middle. The metal pieces that make up the rear door sill, sit on top of the original rear cab section, instead of under it like a reg cab. Sooo the bottoms of my rear doors hit on the rear door sill, and dont close, easily. I know I'm just being **** about it, but I want to fix it before paint. Also the margins around both rear doors are not even all the way around. I'm not going to fix the margins.

bendog, yea think all cabs are made that way, mine is too. You would have thought that they would have put the "front" half and the "rear" half of the cabs in a jig of some sort so that all the rear door openings would be the same. I wonder if there are any guys left from that factory in Canada that would have some insight to the old crewcab construction methods??? My original rear doors closed nicely (no hitting on the door frame). I had to get different doors because the bottom 1' was rotted off mine. I hope my donor doors will fit as nicely as the originals. I only hope.

I think its almost kinda nice to have a few small quirks, like bad margins and hand made cabs and rear doors. keeps it more human than just robots pumping them out every thirty nine seconds. My crew is mired in body work, the killer of too many projects. Please put some more pics of your crew progress in your gallery.

Does anyone have a good solution for the rear doors pull strap? Mine are down to the metal straps. I need a replacement and the best I've found so far are these straps from Dorman (part no. 77202). They aren't very close with the brown stripe down the middle but they are better than what I currently have....

Rob C, yea i've wondered were to get these too. I've thought about the econoline vans that have the two side doors - wonder if you can find these in a junk yard someplace. Just a thought.

I've heard that they are also used on '70s cars for pull straps (torinos, mustangs, and LTDs) but for the life of me, I can't find any being reproduced that look like they will work..... If anyone has any spare black ones they would like to send my way, just let me know.

Here's the link where Numberdummy stated that the straps were used on cars:

Here is my 75 4x4 Crew Cab - Need your Help?

Picasa Web Albums - ArizonaOutdoors - F250 4x4 Crew...

What if I wanted to put http://i23.ebayimg.com/03/i/001/0e/f1/5fd3_2.JPG

Instead of the stock seats...

Is there one here that could tell me how to rig the seat to work with the slider that is there?

Will these cadillac seats be too small?

Finally got the hang of posting pics here are some of my project, 74 crew cab body going onto 77 crew cab long bed chassis, both are 4wd f250's a/c cabs, manual trans., divorced transfer case, d60 frt and rear, and the donor truck came w/ a 50 gal custom stainless steel aft axle fuel tank w/ alum. skid plate and some awesome skid plate for the frt. axle and transfer case!!
I took the dual wheel set up out and plan on selling the flares and rims, no need for this to be a tow vehicle.

Look at my gallery. I put a seat just like that out of a 99 F-150 in my 74 crew. I have a details gallery about it.

Now that is creative and gives me hope. I think I will do it. I'll post pics if I do.
