how is the van any more work than taking one off a donor crew? They are pretty much the same deal. Same shape, etc.

As for replacement roof - I've never seen one. That doesn't mean someone out there doesn't make one, but I find it highly unlikely that they do.

I had a crew with a NASTY roof, and I ended up finding one with a "nicer" (still not perfect) roof instead.

Not to sound rude but the van roofs are wider and longer (obviously) and have those rased ribs running the length, also the top of the windsheild gos up into the roof differently also there is no back window frame for the back window to go up into so yes it could be done with lots of fabercating. I was just hopeing to find one out here or someone that reproduced them as a replacement pannl. worse case i will have to use a van roof or part out the crew cab and off it.

you were talking about skinning the roof from what I can tell (especially if you mention a patch/repair panel) as no one would make a complete roof.

Also - double check that they are differenent aside from the ribs (which most people like due to adding structure to our weak roof). I'm pretty damn sure they are the same. Unless you're talking like a 1999 van or something...

ncspecialties.com has pics about how to replace a crew roof with a van roof, he's aso a member here..... can't remember his name though. I just got done radiusing five 1/2"X1" square tubes and welding them to my roof. I got tired of chasing the weak spot around mine, I'm fairly happy with the results, still needs work though. Good luck.

the van roof is a good idea but mines rotted out at the top of the windsheild post and at every seam line clear back to the seam line at the back window so it needs a complete roof repair

If you want to do ALOT of work, all of the supporting structure (except at the tops of the doors and between them) front and back is the same as a regular cab. I got a reg cab roof from the middle of the windows up for 100 bucks from my local wrecking yard. Cut the spot welds out of your cab and the donor cab and go to town, but only replace one piece at a time or it'll get out of alignment. Good luck.

According to Ford everything on a crew from the front doors back is all hand made. No dies exist for the roof, back floor, doors or the b pillar between the doors
