hey just checking in I have two crew cabs 78 long bed 2wd f350 and an 76 short bed parts truck. my driver is the long bed affectionately known as the " turd" due to its Brown color lol it has a 460 4 speed and is the best towing tell I have, every owned. incidently my friend has a 66 crew cab s 6cylinder and my aunt has a f350 short bed 4x4 460/4 speed. we are kinda a crew cab family . I do have one question. when changing the bed on my 78 long bed crew cab I noticed the frame was Moore narrow than the frame standard cab truck I scored the bed from. it is the same width of the 67-72 frames I have. wereuthere just carry over frames?

The frames on crew cabs 77 1/2 and up are wider @ 37" wide then the 77 1/2 and lower @ 34" wide. I don't know if the width on a reg cab was wider or not. Someone might have did a frame swap before but IDK.

I will measure it . my short bed crew cab is the width of a standard pick up . but my long bed crew cab was more narrow. I will check tomorrow. I also have a 250 super cab long bed 4x4 its frame is standard .

It's all "luck of the draw"

My 78 CCSB is the 34" frame, so is Teds74Ford's 78 CCSB.

The ONLY proven way to know which of the 2 different width frames you have is get under it with a tape measure.

I think ford used whatever frames they had laying around and then just titled them for the current year. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the width thing

Good Afternoon fellow Ford Crew cab lovers. I have been reading this forum for several years and finally joined today. Will try to get some pics of my old Fords because I enjoy looking at all your pictures and I am sure you will feel the same when I get mine posted. Thank you and I am not real familiar on how this works as this is the first forum I have ever joined so we will see how it goes and be patient with me.
Happy New Year!!

Welcome Sparki, I think u need a min of 25 posts first before u can post pics. Unless u like all the ads I highly suggest being a paying member. So worth it without all the ads.
