CrewCab swap help please

Hey folks, Does anyone have any info on swapping My 79 regular cab F250 4x4 for a 79 F? Crew cab 2 wheel drive. Both have 4 speed's/351m400's. I plan on unbolting front clip, junking both box's and using my dog house cover. Unbolt the master from the booster. I'm not sure If the Crew cab (4door) use's the same 4 bolting locations as the regular cab of the same year. I'm also not sure which wiring harness i should use, reg. cab's or the crew cab's. For the rear mounts i'll be able to get. I've just never done this before basically, and not by myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
thanks again.
bill

Crewcab Long Bed Conversion??

Has anyone completed a long bed install on their F250 shortbed crewcab. I have a '78 with a beat up bed and want to lengthen the frame for a long bed. Any info would be great.

78 4x4 crew cab longbed conversion

I posted this question last night but im new to this and can't even find my own post to see if there was a reply. :-)

I have a 78 crew cab 4x4 with a beat up bed and want to put a long bed on it. The frame will need to be extended i'm sure. But where do you extend the frame. directly behind the cab or extend it at the rear and relocate the axle position via spring mounts moved back on the frame.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Hey fellow crewcabbers - do any of you have a nice audio setup in your trucks? Where have you mounted speakers (front doors, B pillars, C pillars?) What types of speakers did you use? Where did you mount an amp and / or sub?
Any pics would be great to!
Thanks,
Eric

i wouldnt cut holes in the pillars for speakers!! the body is so long that it flexes. you could see creases in the exterior skin after a while from the weakened inner pannel. plus, when you go to sell it, someone might get turned off by a hack job. speakers sound so much better when installed into a wood speaker box anyway! not to mention better protected.

78_f800 - I know the cabs are long, but do you honestly think that by cutting a 6" hole inside the B pillar panel will cause the 2 1/2" wide panel on the outside of the truck between the doors to crease????? That cab / frame would have to be twisted like a pretzel for that to happen I would think.

I'm more particular about how I do things than what you know - the speakers would be nicely done, not like a lot of hack jobs I see in some of the trucks on this site.

My 96 ford has speakers inside the C pillar as well as the door speakers - they sound pretty good to me. Where would a guy mount wooden speaker boxes for these old crewcab trucks anyway? Hardly any place for an amp or sub let alone wooden speaker boxes that look nicely installed.

Don't want to sound like a jerk but just want to do this correctly and have a great sounding system when I'm done.

the truck i got my roof panel from had this condition, b-pillars had ripples on the exterior skin from holes cut inside (although it was a well used 4x4) you could reinforce the pillar around the hole like was done for the trucks equipped with shoulder belts. im just trying to caution people so that no one screws up their structural integrity. an idea also i have seen done is if you build a roll cage-build mdf wood boxes and secure them with u-bolts to the upper cage, it works totally awsome, and you get unobstructed surround sound, or build a custom roof panel with speakers overhead. subs will have to be mounted behind the rear seat. if you have the in-cab fuel tank, just build a box to mount to the floor in the back seat, with some cupholders if needed. if you ditch the bench seats, it opens up more room too. and i dont think you are a jerk. oh- and you dont leave them bare wood. glue on automotive carpet, or smooth out and fill screw holes with bondo and paint with hammerite or whatever you like, just like a professional shop would do only for a tenth the cost.

You think that 's bad? Try the California Bay area! Prius City. Those who don't drive Prius' have BMW's or Saab's.
