I have 2 gasket sets and 1 set of emblems, the other set was either lost, prior to me buying the crew cab , or kept by one of the prior owners as a keepsake, sorry. This truck was actually bought in pieces. What were the emblems from, what year and model??

 

those embelems are off from a 57-60 f700+ truck or a N-series ford, those are bad *** embelems! i want to eventually build one of those trucks. and everyone thinks the superduty name came in the 90's!

N series- a very tough and tall medium duty truck built from 63-69 (i think) they use the conventional slick-sixties f series cab, and have a different front clip, and even came in a crew cab variety!!

i don't have pics of the superduty embelem on the n series, but i have seen it.

 

Finally got my 76 C/C home, working on it now. How much lift is needed to clear crossover steering? And what type of power steering box is best for the conversion? Thanks.

 

I'm using a 78 F150 4X4 box with 80-96 internals (so the pitman arm will point backwards and rotate the correct way), I have 3-inch Rancho leafs. Hopefully will clear with Sky Manufacturing's crossover steering. Requires cutting that raised piece on the frame and welding a plate to mount the box. Good luck!

Whatever box you use you will have to do some fabbing. The later boxes all mounted on the inside of the frame while ours were on the outside. My buddy did the 78 F150 4X4 box as mentioned above on his '72 so I know that works. In fact he pirated the box I had custom built for my 76 when his box, which he had pieced together out of wrecking yard boxes, failed. I had mine professionally done by ARI which is now defunct, so now I have to get another one built. I will probably use Redhead in Seattle this time. Best of luck. BTW I 'm orig from K Falls, Ore. I figured I would put this here as I know you all appreciate these trucks. I have changed directions in projects and will/are letting the old girl go along with anything that goes with it. She is going as a "parts" truck in one piece. I will place an add in the classifieds later but just wanted to give you all a heads up but most of all I wanted to thank everybody for all the help. Im hailing from Central point, just north of Medford. Good to hear from an ex-local. I just scored a new hood, cab top to repair my crew roof, and most of an air conditioning system and all of the dash and engine wiring out of a 79 bronco. I'll be meeting the bodywork guy monday. I'm hoping to get my crossover, suspension lift and chassis paint and rebuild done before my cab gets back. Is a 150 box strong enough, and does it give alot of additional clearance to put the rearward facing 150 box in instead of a standard?
I'd like to only lift about 3-4 inches, and if that box is better, thats what I'll start looking for. Otherwise I'll just pick up the f-250 4x4 box at my scrapyard, I trust 250 parts more than 150 parts, Especially under a heavy truck. Why are you planning on those boxes in particular, Chase? More clearance? Stronger? Thanks.

 

I've seen the saginaw boxes used a lot in a crossover setup. They are easy to find and therefore relatively cheap. They are relatively easy to mount, and have a strong mointing type system. Actually - they are just strong overall!

 

There really is no strength difference between the boxes. In fact 80-96 F100-350 use the same box. The 77.5-79 F250 4X4's have a different frame so it's not a direct bolt in. I want to eliminate the drag link that runs parallel to the frame. The 77.5 to 79 F250 4X4 box still utilizes this. With reverse rotation using 80-96 internals on a 78-79 F150 box you can mount the box closer to the factory position (albeit on the other side of the frame). It will definetly require the use of a crossover steering type setup. I tried using a standard tie/rod drag link setup but it doesn't clear the spring. My buddy made the standard tie rod/draglink setup work by welding two-inch spacers between his spring and shackle mounts, dropping his springs down, he also bent his drag-link to clear. I prefer Sky Manufacturing's hi-steer crossover setup. If I ever get around to having another box built, I'll post pics of my progress. The truck is still in my backyard with no steering whatsoever!
