Hey Guys and Gals,
Mark here from eastern Washington, I am currently in lurker stage . But I wanted to give the Forum my membership and support. I am currently in the market for an old Ford truck ( gave my hi-boy to my brother in law ) but she was in poor shape and deserved to spend the rest of her life in the woods where she belongs. Here is what I have in mind that I want in my truck but I think its going to be a needle in a hay stack search w/o some help from you guys.
I would love a 70's series Ford f-350, 4x4, quad cab, long bed, auto, factory a/c, cruise. Can I get tilt?
I know this is a long shot. Maybe have to piece this one together out of several rigs. I plan on making this my last truck purchase so I am going to get what I want.
Well I'm going to lurk for the next several months gathering info and getting ideas.
Ryker.
Just for any of you that are looking here is one in pdx. I don't have the 12k liquified or I would go look at her. 78 Ford truck F250 Crew Cab 4x4

The problem area was the front part of the door by footwell... I probably just glued the weatherstrip a little off.

It is rumored the factory made a few for special orders (utility companies) but I did not see if they were original frames or like mine, welded after the fact. It makes for a very big turning radius and hard to park.

They do exist, I have one in my back yard, its two frames welded together, but it exists.

So I have the 1979 f250, and my truck has the common Indiana rust spots on it. I need new rear cab corners front amd rear rocker panles and front floor pans and maybe rear but I can't find the rear at all not even though Lmc and I only need the drivers side rear floor pan. Am I going to have to fab one out myself or dose anybody know where I can find them but I've had the rest of the truck apart b/c I am doing a gram off restoration and getting rid of all rust on the truck and since the jackass owner befor me pulled out the motor with matching numbers im just dropping a 12 valve cummings in with with the 5 speed behind it
I had a completely rusted out rear section too.
If you look at a standard cab, the rear section is exactly the same as the crew cabs. The difference being the center section used to stretch the crewcab.
I bought a donor standard cab, dog house and short bed for $500 off a '78 and took the pieces I needed. This rear section on the '78 even has the holes pre-punched for the body mounts for the narrower frame, just need to use hole saw to drill out the sheet metal over the top and plug up the wider holes I may just use body plugs and say forget it.
You have cut it to fit and trim it up and it is a ton of work. Probably 100+ spot welds but it can be done. Not for the faint of heart. Doing it over again I would say find an Oregon cab where my donor truck came from and it wont have anything more than surface rust.
The standard cab will have all the pieces you need including rockers for the front.
Some day I'll get around to posting my build pics for my cab haha.
