Scott,

I have the 3-wire TPS. The top wire is Black/White tracer, middle is Tan (I think)/White tracer, and the bottom is Brown/White.

Stand by just a little longer....I found it, and I'm making sure I can get it working on my truck before I mess you up.

Oh....and I also remembered that it is a 4 wire hook up, not 2. One must convince the IVS that it is off before one can manipulate the TPS.

Ok. There is the switch with the 99+ wire colors listed. On the IVS connection there are only two wires. The wire colers and the orientaion on the switch do not matter. All we're doing with the IVS is convincing it that the pedal is depressed when it is not.

On the TPS wires, the 99+ wire colors are Yellow (top) Grey/white (middle) and Black/white (bottom). The colors don't match on the OBS but the wire positions should corrolate.

Get a variety of resistors to try (2.2K-4.9K) and use the one that gives you the best control over the system. The one I used only let the idle go to about 1300 rpm, which is exactly what I was after.

The switch is a Mouser 31VM305, which is now obsolete. Their current part number is 31VM305-F. I made all the connections with scotch lock type connectors. The ones that clamp down over the wire like a suitecase.

So Scott your set up is just and On/OFF setup? Then you just play with the resistors to get the idle you want? Thats alot easier than some of the write up floating around!!

Never mind found the switch. Its a potentiometer with an off position as well. 5k pot so you do have some variation if needed. Is that correct?

Do you have a part number for the potentiometer?

Also, what does IVS stand for?

IVS- Idle Validation Switch. its the click you hear in the throttle pedal

Yes. Sorry, forgot to mention the pot has an off switch. Without that a seperate on/off switch will be needed. And yes, it will also work without the resistor. I added it to limit the maximum RPM when it was switched on.

So with the resistor the potentiometer is basically an on/off switch. Is the IVS located on the TPS?

There are two seperate switches on the pedal. The two wire idle validation and the three wire throttle position switch.

This particular rheostat has an on/off switch....some don't. If yours doesn't you'll need to wire in a seperate switch.

Well, the up side to this particular mod is there is only about $15 in parts, and maybe an hour of your time including a suitable spot to mount the switch.
