How to replace window regulator?

My 51 F1's right door window regulator is kaput. I have a donor, but don't have a donor to replace the blood I'm gonna lose, trying to get the new one in. Anyone done this recently? Appreciate any tips on securing glass to the horizontal "channel" on the regulator. Thanks

Do you have a Shop Manual? The manual for my 56 has very good instructions for doing it. I couldn't have tackled the job without it.

Shop manual is the #1 tool before you start to work on these trucks.

I had both of mine out of my 48 last summer to replace the glass. It's not as big of a job as you might think. Take your time and do one side at a time leaving the other side to use as a guide. In my case I wanted to be sure the glass was secure in the channel so I took it to a local glass shop. If I remember correctly they only charged me about $15 (for both sides) to set the glass into the channel and I didn't have to buy any materials. I had already removed the old glass and cleaned up and painted the channel with POR-15. If you remove the old glass from the channel, measure the glass overhang on each side of the window channel to be sure the replacement side glass gets placed into the same position as the old one.
