Back on all 4's - so ends the great leaf spring debacle

Well, with a few false starts, a few obligatory steps backwards, and more than my fair share of frosty beverages the old 49 is back on its wheels. I managed to get the leaf springs (generously donated by Albuq F-1) bolted into the front of my truck complete with new bushings, pins, and front shackles.

Being a seasoned veteran of tinkering with old machinery I deftly sidestepped the wood rasp to the knuckles, packing gritty sand and rust into the eyes, and even the smashing of the thumb with a large hammer. I did succumb to an overly large dose of frosty beverage consumption as my neighbor came over Saturday evening to see what all the commotion was about and we got sidetracked.

...........I had to finish the job on Sunday with an aching head......

Being the clever guy that I am I removed a couple of leaves from the new spring packs to give me that bitchin' lowered look. After getting the truck back on the ground and taking a test drive I opted to put the leaves back in....ugh. Basically, too much bump steer with it really low.

Just so you all know. You can add or remove leaves from your spring packs without removing the springs from the truck.

Now, when payday rolls around I will purchase some bump stops and install them and hopefully not have to think about suspension for along time to come

It was a great weekend!
Bobby

Congratulations Bobby !

I successfully completed the installation of the bathroom vanity , countertop and plumbing; does that count ?

I hope to work on the box the next couple days, temperatures are hovering at - 10 degrees C but I need to show progress on the truck while I have time off.

Later

Tom

Tom,

SSHHHH!!! don't say things like that too loud!!! If my ol' lady hears that then I'll have to do the same thing (the kids bathroom needs a serious facelift)

We had awesome weather here this weekend. I think it hit 60 yesterday! bright, sunny, and no wind...woohoo.

Don't worry, you'll get some truck time in
Bobby

I really like the way it looks with the springs like that!

Props for keeping the Beverage Industry employed.

Hey Bobby, Congrats on getting her back together!! I bought that EFI setup this weekend, and I go to get it this next weekend!! I bought the whole van it was in. It came with a lay down rear couch and a good 305 chevy 350 turbo trans too! I'll sell off the leftovers, and keep the EFI and couch for my panel truck

I'm goin to use the EFI (Holley Projection) on my Pegysu! Hopefully I'll crack 12 mpg's
