460 into a 96 F250

I'm just looking for some feedback of a swap that I'm considering. I have a '96 F250, 5.8, E4OD, 4x4, that I've been thinking about swapping engines in. There is currently nothing wrong with the engine besides being a little underpowered for my truck. What I'm thinking of doing is buying a former state police cruiser with a 460 that are available at auction every couple of months from our state. From looking at results of past auctions it looks like the earliest models available are 2002-2003's with someof them selling for less than $1000.00.

My questions to all the experts out there is how difficult would this swap be? What will be required? What mods to the engine and or computer will be neceassary?

I realize that I will probably need new motor mounts, and maybe new front springs to accomodate the extra weight of the new engine. Will the E4OD bolt up to the 460 without any type of adapter?

I'm sure there are some past post regarding this type of swap that hopefully some of you will poit me to so I can gain more knowledge about this before I dive into it.

I thought the 460 was discontinued after 97??

I just found out that they discontintued them in '97. Maybe what I'm thinking about isn't so feasable. Forgive for I am a newbie.

the new police cruisers use the 4.6 L SOHC modular motor. about 210hp - 230hp give or take, so about the same as your 5.8 l motor.
