Then I noticed that the "something burning" was actually dripping from the engine compartment. I guess it was brake fluid or something (does that burn?).
I ran inside and had the receptionist sound the alarms & call the fire department, then I ran back outside to watch this thing burn.

At any rate, the truck was engulfed in flames from the windshield forward within minutes. There were a couple of small explosions, then a slightly larger explosion as the fire ate away to the fuel lines. The fuel tank never blew, thankfully, as the fire department did well to put it out in the time that they did.
Unfortunately, the truck was parked between two vehicles. Both of those vehicles were short a couple of tires each, which fused with the pavement, and had some pretty severe heat/burn damage to their exteriors after it was all said and done.

My expy wasn't on the recall list at that time, but I guess Ford changed their minds and I just got a letter in the mail a few weeks ago, which was supposedly a second notice about the recall on my truck. So I took it in and the part was on back order and all he would do is disconnect my cruise control. I said "no thanks" because I didn't want to wait for that, but now that I think about it I think I'll disconnect it myself tonight.
I can't believe after seeing the expy burn you told them "no thanks". By all means disconnect it. You can live without your cruise control for a while. Have Ford do the fix when they get the part in so your A$$ is covered.

Just did! Took all of 84 seconds or so. Now for some reason my cruise control isn't working.

Glad you unhooked it. Your cruise control won't work with this disconnected, but it beats the alternative. Once you get the Ford fix your cruise will work again.

Heh. Sorry, sometimes I forget that jokes don't translate well in black and white text. I was just kidding about not understanding why my cruise control wouldn't work though. Maybe my user name threw you off, lol.

My Ford dealership told me that they are going to recall the repairs, not good enough, the single fuse deal isnt holding up well, my cruise is already out, and the cruise light on the dash never worked after the repair! I was told to unhook it, and leave it unhooked and wait for the recall in the mail

I just called my dealer and set up an appointment to have the new harness installed. They didn't mention if it the harness is the modified or a modification of the modified harness.

I don't use the cruise control often enough to see if the new harness has addressed the previous problem of the cruise cutting out. At least the fire issue hopefully has been addressed.

No kidding!

I just confirmed with my Dealer 03' Exp are not part of the recall, even though there have been multiple cases of 03's going up in flames...for no apparent reason.
