Special 4x4 Grease & oil ?

I'm getting ready to do ball joints & rotors on my truck. the Ford service manual calls for Ford 4x4 wheel bearing grease & 4x4 gear oil. I know they would love to sell me their high priced lube, but is there a difference with this stuff and regular
gear lube & bearing grease ? What do you guys use ?

Thanks, John

an wheel bearing grease that has an "EP" label is fine, there is no gear oil in your ft hubs.

Thanks for the replies. I kind of thought that a good bearing grease would work. I was asking about the gear lube because I'm going to change the lube out while i'm doing the rest of the project.

Thanks again , John

For the gear oil any gear oil that meets weight of waht they reccomend should work if you have a limmited slip in the rear you may need some additive.
