Added a Leer cap, need help wiring the 3rd brake light
I bought the cap off of a year old truck and put on my 2005. I have the ground and the dome light wired correctly, but need to know where to tie-in the wire for the 3rd brake light. any ideas on how to run this wire? Thanks!
When I got the cap on my Ranger, they ran a wire clear up into the cab to tap into a brake wire. Seems like a long way to go, but I guess the connection area stays dry that way.
Green wire on the brake light switch. I had to run the wire along side of the big wire loom on the drivers side frame rail. I could't feed it through the gromet that was already there (under the drivers side floor), so i drilled a small hole next to it and added a new gromet. worked like a charm. It's a shame there isn't some kind of adapter to give it a factory looks, but it works just fine.
The whole project took about 2 hours...mostly because of trial and error. I imagine if I knew what i was doing from the start it would have been an hour project from start to finish. Shorter if you have a lift

I’m a little late with this, so for future reference. There is a dead end wire for the 3rd brake light on a cap (topper). It’s located in a harness that’s on the frame @ the driver’s door behind a cover. See pictures. I have a 2005 Super Crew. I re-routed the wire today & put it in an enclosed shield.
