What year is the block?

I have a 429 block,trying to find out what year the block was manufactured.The number stamped on the front is,3y144749. The rear of the block has the number 3f21t.Please tell me how I can find out.

All I can tell you is to look behind the starter-should be something like C8VE or D0VE. to decode-C=60's, D=70's, C8=1968, D0(zero not O)=1970, as far as I could find out the "V" is for Lincoln and a "T" was for truck, the "E" is for engine-I think! I could only get to my '79 to check and it was marked D9TE-1979 truck block. This applies to heads also-I wanted to know what D0VE-C heads are that are on my truck engine! Hope this helps!

3f21t is the block casting date code. The block has a part number on it, but don't worry too much about that. The first digit is the year. The second is the month, and the third is a two digit date. Your block was cast on June 21, 1973.
