351-M Distributor in a 460

Ok Everyone,

I've been reading a few messages on here and from before, and I'm kinda worried now. I recently pulled the 351-M out of my 79' T-Bird and placed in a 460. I used my old distributor out of the 351-M and I didn't bother to check the gear on it. I've had this up and running since August and it has been running great. It has about 3,000 miles on the motor. My question is, would there have been a problem with the gear shown up already or would it take some time? Thanks for all your help.

I think if there were going to be a problem, you would have had it by now

T-bird guy:

I TOOK THE DIST OUT OF MY 400 AND PUT IT IN MY NEW 460. IT RAN ABOUT AN HOUR BEFORE IT QUIT. THE 400 DIST GEAR WAS SMALLER THAN THE 460 DIST GEAR. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS PULL IT AND COMPARE THE SIZE. THE DIFFERENCE IS OBVIOUS. I AGREE THAT IF ITS BEEN RUNNING FOR A WHILE YOU ARE PROBABLY OK.
