help. Cracked transfer case

I found where my vibration is coming from. The piece between the granny and t case is broken right in half! I'm putting some pics of this in my gallery. Is that part replacable? How in the world did that happen?

yikes!! yes if it what I am thinking it is its bolted to both the tranny then the T-case. If you have an auto I think that your is aluminum but there is also a cast iron version from a 4R100 that will be a direct replacement.

Thats exactly what im describing TJ. I will go with the cast iron one for sure. Part of me if happy that I found the cause of the vibrations. Surprisingly it didnt vibrate that bad even though the part was totally cracked in half. Hopefully I can pick up the part on Monday and get it fixed. What luck I have...

Heres a bad picture of the carnage. You can see it goes all the way around if you look closely. Any idea what this part is called?

I think I have a pretty good idea why this happened. About 2 years ago my truck was hit in the rear. The car that hit me wiped out my rear axle. They hit the drivers side wheel and pushed that side of the axle forward a good 6 inches. Broke the leaf right off the hangers. Im guessing the repair shop overlooked any driveline damage at the time. Maybe this is where is started and just got worse over the years and finally let go.

Im going to try the dealer on Monday. Id like to get it done asap. Thank you for the offer though. If the dealers price is crazy, I might take you up on that.

Im having a hard time finding a part number for the extention housing. Anyone have any numbers?

The 4R100 housing has an extra hole in the top for the output speed sensor

I have a couple of questions. If I understand correctly I can use the housing from the 4r100 and just plug the hole for the sensor? Is there anything inside the housing that I will need to buy too?

Thanks.

The 4R100 housing has the same bolt pattern as the E4OD check the transfer case side before you bolt it to your E4OD,you should not need anything inside just the output shaft and park linkage in there,if you have a question let me know.
