engine swap

Reading a earlier post, I was wondering about taking my high mi. 351 and going to a 460. The truck is a 93 2wd auto. Has any body did this one ?I pull a 5th. wh. and need the power. Are m. mounts and tranny a bolt up? How about all the rest?

the swap can be done, but it's a little bit involved. The transmission will not work because the 460's bellhousing pattern is different, the motor mounts are completely different, as are the frame mounts, the driveshaft will have to be changed, on and on. look at the 80-96 truck message board for more info. I have done it to my 83, installed a 514 in place of the trusty ole 300, but it was a pain!! all in all, the swap was fairly easy, I just had problems with the air conditioning/alternator/power steering brakets.

I did this with an 88 f350, The way to go is have a doaner vehicle. You will find that ever thing is different. I went cold turkey and spent a lot of time and money finding out the hard way. It can be done and all the info can be found on this site. I only wish I would have known about it when i did mine. I also tow a 5th wheel and it will go now, youre call, good luck
