Question 50th Anniversary F150s

So does ANYBODY have any clue on exactly how many 50th anniversary F150s were produced in 98???

Having adopted Dad's "98" I've been puzzled by this question too. Had thought that FORD built a special "50th anniversary" version of the F150. Dad thought his was. Unfortunately the only indication I can find to that effect is the 50 cent "50th anniversary" decal in the rear window.

Having asked this question at a couple of FORD dealerships I've come to believe all every '98 is a "50th anniversary" F150. Seems like the gimmick was a deal on equipment packages. Wikipedia says of the 'new' style introduced in '97: "Sales of the F-150 surged in the tenth generation from 750,000 to over 900,000 in 2001." Would guess in '98 FORD built ~800,000 F150s.

I remember they had a promo with a red and black one that was more or less divided on the top fender line, all other two tones are only 1/4of the way up the fender. I am not sure if any were made with that paint job though, if so I'd say they are "true" 50th anniversary trucks. I want to say there might have been a 50th fender badge on them also.

I don't know how many 50th anniversary models were produced in `98 but, I saw a 60th anniversary model on the showroom floor this past Saturday. The 2008 models have a serialization plate on the center console.

There is no mention of a special "50th anniversary" version of F150 in the '98 sales brochure or any "50th fender badge" shown. Besides the decal, my Dad got cap w/the same appealing "50th" logo on it. Was told FORD also put out T-shirts w/this logo & it appears on the window sticker.

Or was this a trick question?

Of course its likely that the majority of "50th anniversary F150s were produced in" 1997, IF "produced"= built.

The NASCAR Edition was a 50th year anni with only 3000 produced [600 autos and 2400 manuals]; however, I heard there was a spearate one as well.

Still Have it.

I bought one new in May 1998 and still have it. I don't know how many were avaiable but they should have made more of them. Mine has a ton of miles on it and it still runs good. I want a new truck but my 98 just won't give me a reason to sell it. I think I could drive it a couple more years. Time will tell.

So can you tell us whether or not there were Special Edition "50th Anniversary F150s"? Is there anything that indicates your '98 is uniquely 50th anniversary? The only indication on mine is a little 50 cent sticker in the rear window that's obscured by the stupid cap.

Or were only that portion of the ~800,000 1998 model year F150's actually "produced in 98" really "50th Anniversary F150s"?

I bet you if you decode your VIN it will reveal some clues.

We talking the same "50 cent" sticker on the passenger side of the rear window? Didn't the most basic '98 low end F150 w/16" steel wheels get that sticker?

Still haven't been able to get a bead on what a "50th aninniversary F150" is, other than a '98 model year F150.

Has anyone got advertising literature describing a special 50th version?

My Dad gave me a lot of 'paper' w/his '98 including brochures, some magazine articles & reprints-have seen no mention of a special 50th model/version/package/edition/paint scheme etc. His Brother bought a nearly matching pickup, springing for a Lariat. Would enjoy seeing any '98 FORD brochures other than the standard 2 that show the F-Series line & Accessories.

Heres one on Epay with the 17" wheels and a decal over the F150 emblem.

Here the scoop from Edmonds

Thanks for posting an actual "50th Anniversary" special edition. It made me recall that my Uncle's Lariat had the special 50th seats, thought he'd just accessorized to get the wood dash bits. Only saw it briefly once a long time ago, when I was barely interested & it left the impression of being garish. Now that they've been positively identified, the question remains the same, how many did FORD produce? Suspect we're talking hundreds, certainly no more than a few thousand of the ~800,000 F150s made for '98.

Edmund's didn't off much & some of what it did offer was dubious. Take "The 1998 F-150 gets a 50th Anniversary decal affixed to the lower left corner of the windshield" for example. Got to presume what I'm calling the "50 cent sticker" is the same "decal" Edmund speaks of. Anyone seen this on the "windshield" or are they like mine, on the passenger side of the rear window?
