F-450 (13.7 MPG City, hand calculated)

I just filled up and checked the last tank of fuel, got 13.7 mpg hand calculated while the DIC displayed 13.1 mpg. I took delvery of my F-450 on April 23, 2007 (Job 1) and have consistently averaged around 13 mpg city driving.

I drive very conservative and try to keep the turbo boost under 10 PSI, just as others have mentioned on this web site. I have not taken it on any highway trips, so I am not sure what it will do if I keep the RPM's less than 2000 which is about 60 mph. What also helps is that my F-450 has a 4X2 with a 4.30 ratio, and automatic transmission. My truck only has 2500 miles on the odometer, has not had a single problem, and I have not had it reflashed.

My 2006 Silverado 3500 DRW, 4X2, Duramax/Allison 6-spd averaged about 15 mpg under the same driving conditions. But it had a 3.73 ratio, weighed less since it was an extended cab, and did not have the new emissions DPF. Overall, I am very happy with this truck.

Nice truck. Mine is 4X4 and it gets about 10mpgs in town and some highway that is hand calculated. I try to keep the turbo down around 10psi but it's hard. Plus mine is auto to.

Scott, I see we live in the same town, I am in the market to buy a 2008 F450 soon, I'm interested in speaking with you about your truck purchase, did you buy local? Why are you getting such low gas mileage compaired to others?

I cant "pm" you because I'm a newbe

Thanks
Bob

Real close to mine too. My average is 13.46 hand calculated since towing last summer. Took average from Sept, Oct and Nov.Computer shows 14.3 mine is also under 62 mph rural and city driving. Try to keep my boost under 25#. Towing is a different story, push it pretty hard, boost spends a lot of time between 20 and 35#. My teeth are itching to tow already. That is one nice looking truck you have.

5700 miles on my trip computer and its at 9.7mpg. LOL I drive pretty easy, but 13+, no way for me. I did make an effort one fuel up to drive as nicely as I could, result was about 12mpg. 4.88's for me and 4x4, the 4.30 must be helping out I guess.
