Swaping a 87 6.9L Diesel into a 78 F250

Hi,

I have a 78 F250 with a 400 thats Had it connecting rod fellapart and went threw the block and I have a 87 f250 with a 6.9 Diesel both are 4x4

wat would it take to swap the 6.9 Diesel into the 78 F250 has any one does this ?

It looks like I may need to fab up some motor mounts and do a lil wireing and install new fuel lines with a return line

Thanks,

I'm working on doing the same thing, but haven't gotten too far. There is guy that goes by IDieselman on FTEs diesel forums.com that did an amazing job on his truck. He put a 6.9 in a 78 and completely restored it, you have got see the pics.

Ive been told that aside from wiring, mounts, and a body lift, it is a very easy swap as far as a diesel is concerned.

I've looked into doing the same thing, having both trucks is a bonus as there may be issues with tranny to motor bolting up. So, entire combo of motor, tranny, tcase come out of the diesel and into the truck as one piece, motor mounts need to be changed, lines and fuel or diesel now changed, wiring needs to be added or changed for glow plugs and water in fuel or something like that. I think in a couple of years, I'll be doing the same swap 6.9 or 7.3 all depends what comes available at the time, good luck with the swap, keep us posted on the progress!
