Auto loc power windows

Hey all Got my Auto Loc flat glass power window kit yesterday. I bought it from Summit and on both sites it shows a picture of the motor being remote from the track approx 6 inches for more mounting versatility. When I got it the motors are fixed to the track. After some discussion back and forth I found out that they come fixed and if you want them remote you must modify the assy yourself! Not a huge deal but you better be sure cuz you can't go back. Just wanted to let anyone know who is considering the 55033 kit. Other than that it looks to be a pretty good kit. They do have to send me a new one though cuz both rails/tubes were pretty tweaked.

Does it seem like it can be modified to look like the pic and then become a remote?? The last time I helped a friend put in an AL kit, they sent the rigid mount in error and then sent the remote mounted a week later and they did not look like they could be modified. There wasw nor room at the lower part of the door for the fixed motor unit, so he had to have the remote mounted unit. That was 2 years ago and he ordered from Auto-Loc (hoffman group) direct. (screwed on shipping).

How are the instructions on the kit now anyway ??

I used the fixed motor on the vertical channel type in a 56 door and it was a very tight fit between the motor and the door skin. I prefer the detached motor type.

I haven't read the installation instructions yet, just the modification. Yes you can make it look just like the picture but once you do there's no going back. You physically cut the tube that the drive cable runs in, then insert a piece from the end of the "hose" that the cable rides in. I'll see if I can get the instructions into my gallery. BTW Hoffman swears that all kits come like mine and if you want the motor remote you do the mod. Also interesting that they didn't send any instructions with the kit letting you know about the mod. Had to get it all via email.

I guess I can only upload images to gallery. It also looks like I can't put attachments in a thread, don't know why. I can e-mail em if needed. Let me know.
