X3 questions

I just received my X3 from Troyer. I downloaded a canned tune on my 2005 5.4L 3V to get me by until my custom tunes arrive....Can't wiat....

My question is on the x3 it says something about 5 times and it's locked. can someone explain this a bit for me?

My father has a 1998 4.6L and his check engine light is on, can I use this to read his check engine dtc codes without taking mine back to the stock tune? Would reading his codes count as one of the 5 settings it goes through.

Sure would like to help him out if I could ya know him being my DAD and all....lol

I guess what I need to know is if I have a canned tune from my tuner on my truck, can I still read my dad's check engine light computer codes with the tuner or do I need to set mine back to stock and then use up 2 of my 5 settings on my tuner?
